I am a certified electronics engineering technologist with a passion for audio equipment that has evolved from a hobby into my full time gig! This passion began back in high school when my friends and I would spend every penny we earned on audio gear, constantly upgrading, improving, tweaking and building equipment. Since then I have been repairing and designing audio equipment of every kind, deepening my knowledge and honing my skills. I do repair most brands of audio equipment but my particular specialty is turntables and especially vintage turntables. Check out the gallery for some of my favorite repairs.
The sixties, seventies and eighties were the glory days of vinyl and some of the best turntables ever made were spooned during these years. Many of these quality turntables were so will built they have survived the decades and still produce amazing sound quality.
Of course any turntable that is decades old, no matter how well built, requires maintenance, repair and calibration to keep it working its best. So if you have one of these vintage beauties that needs a little TLC, or complete restoration, I can help. Although I specialize in vintage turntables I do service most makes and models of turntables.
I provide hands on service to northeastern Ontario and no charge tech support for everyone.
As audio enthusiasts we will fuss over the most minuet of details in order to get the best possible sound from our systems. But, often times completely ignore one of the largest sources of distortion, cartridge alignment and tonearm calibration
A customer approached me with a turntable acoustic feedback problem. When ever he would turn the volume up the speakers would howl so badly that all you could hear was the howling. He had tried a few isolation feet but nothing had worked. So, I began researching vibration isolation and discovered earth quake isolation technology for buildings which manages to keep the building stationary while the ground underneath shakes violently. I applied this technology to a turntable vibration isolation platform for him and it worked amazingly well. The customer could now play records as loudly as they wanted with absolutely no feedback.
I have been making these for a few years now and placed them in some of the most vibration prone listening environments: flimsy shelving units, shelves mounted on stud walls, even sitting directly on floors. This Isolator has worked in every case.
While developing this I discovered that the platform significantly improved the performance of my own turntable. It improved clarity across the frequency range, delivered wider and deeper sound stages, improved bass definition, made transients clearer, and reduced muddiness and smear. I custom build each Isolator and tune it your particular turntable and listening environment so you can be sure that it will eliminate vibrations and improve the perform of your turntable in your home!
Prices start at $200 and there is a DIY kit for $100. This is a fraction of the price of other high quality turntable isolation platforms from manufacturers such as Gingko Audio, SRA, Twonshed Audio, Thixar and Symposium Acoustics.
